I was born in Jammu (Rajori Kalakot), and spent my early childhood there. Later my father joined a coal mine named Khongapani (West Jhagrakhand SECL)in Surguja in undivided Madhya Pradesh (now Chhattisgarh) and remained there till retirement. The unemployed localite were representative of the tribe of Chhattisgarh. Very simple by nature, far away from materialistic progress. Their raw mud houses combination of white and sky color distemper outside the houses always wanted to register their presence on my canvas.
